Time Off

Record days off and public holidays, so your day counts and Capacity report are right.

Configuration: Manage the Time Off types via the gear icon in the Time Off toolbar.
  • Time Off Types: your kinds of leave (Vacation, Sick) and their colors.
  • Holiday Types: the kinds of holiday you record and their colors.
  • Working Days: Your working week is set in Settings > Global Configuration (the Working Days picker) - choose any days, not just Monday to Friday. It governs the day counts on every surface (Time Off page, overview, Capacity report, Reports Hours tab) so the same block reports the same number of days everywhere, and it sets your weekly hours target (hours per day x working days). Leave that falls entirely on a non-working day still shows as 1 day on those pages, so the entry never looks empty, but it does not reduce your Capacity target - those days were never working days to begin with. (The older "Count weekends as time off" switch still works as a simple fallback - every day, or weekdays only - until you set explicit working days.)
Changes are saved automatically.
PTO Used / PTO Planned: Days whose start date has passed count as Used; future blocks count as Planned - both for the selected year.
Holidays Used / Holidays Planned: The same past/future split for public holidays, counting only holidays marked as taken.

Categories

You make your own types - Vacation, Sick, Personal - and pick their colors. Importing holidays adds a Federal Holiday or State Holiday type if you do not have it yet.

Holidays

Public holidays. Usually non-working days for everyone.

Vacation / PTO

Leave you take. It does not lower your Capacity target; it shows as time off to make up.

Sick Leave

Unplanned absence. Important for historical tracking.

Impact on Reports

Time off shows on Track, as markers on the Income and Hours Worked charts, and in the Capacity report as Time Off.

Note:  You can still log time on a day off; the day shows both.
Shortcut: when an entry has an end date, picking the start opens the end's calendar, and an end before the new start moves to the same day.

Color Management

Holiday and PTO color tags are governed by the types defined in your Configuration panel (the gear icon in the toolbar). A new entry takes its type's color; changing a type's color recolors every entry of that type, and renaming a type renames it on every entry. An entry's own color can be changed on the entry.

Adding Holidays:  You must select a category before you can save a new holiday; the color tag is set from it. A holiday is one day unless you switch on Multi-day, which shows the start and end dates.
Importing Holidays:  Import Holidays (in Actions) pulls your country's calendar so you do not have to enter each day by hand. Pick your country - and, for the US, UK, Australia and Canada, your state / nation / province to include region-specific holidays. Set your default country and region once under Settings → Global Configuration → Location & Holidays so it is pre-filled each time. The system checks your configured holiday types: if a matching type exists its color is used, otherwise the type is created with a default color.
Deleting Types:  A type that any entry uses, in any year, cannot be deleted - a dialog says so. Reassign or remove those entries first.
Taken Toggle:  On the Public Holidays tab, the Taken switch on each entry records that you took the holiday off. "Not taken" entries (you worked that day) are excluded from your "Used" and "Planned" totals and from the Capacity Report.
Holidays vs PTO - where to record what:  Holidays are public holidays you take off. PTO is leave you spend from your own balance. If you want a personal day on top of the public holidays, log it as PTO, not as another Holiday entry. This keeps the Capacity Report's "Holidays are paid" switch meaningful: it controls how the report scores public holidays you took, not your personal time off.

Year Navigation

Use the Year dropdown in the toolbar to switch between years; the list and the counters follow it. It offers every year that holds time off, future years included, plus the current year.

Default Year:  The current year is shown first. The year selection is preserved when switching between tabs.
